BDSM vs Fanfiction

Welcome to this page!

Before we can proceed, here are some assumptions I'm going to make about you if you were directed here:

  • You are against fanfiction (and fanart) that depicts dark / taboo themes such as rape, incest, underage sex, grooming / pedophilia, zoophilia / bestiality, slavery and so on, especially if said fanfiction is created for kink reasons and/or the dark theme is romanticized instead of being portrayed in a realistic manner.
  • You believe that the people who write or enjoy reading the aforementioned type of fanfiction (or fanart) are sick, dangerous freaks who deserve to be ostracized, bullied, shamed.
  • You are pro-BDSM, because BDSM requires the consent of all the people involved.

If either one of these assumptions is inaccurate, then this page is not meant for you.
If both of these assumptions are accurate, then please proceed by clicking the arrow button below.

Do you agree with this kind of post?

Then let's talk about BDSM and fanfiction!

What is BDSM?

The definition of BDSM and why people engage in it is complex, but for our purposes here, we'll sum it up this way:

Two or more people roleplaying a scene that involves something that would be wrong* (abusive / taboo) if it was "real".
To do this, they take on certain predetermined "roles"**.
Once the scene ends, the people involved stop roleplaying as these temporary "roles".
The people involved decide beforehand what they are and are not comfortable with, often by going through a written list of kinks. If all the people involved agree to the terms of this "contract", they can proceed and start roleplaying the scene.
Consent can be revoked at any time, no questions asked: safewords help to ensure that even during CNC*** scenes, the people involved can communicate very clearly that they want to end the scene.

*For example: a Master/slave scene would be wrong if it was actually "real", therefore involving an actual real life slave owner and their actual real life slave. A CNC scene would be wrong if it was actual real life rape and not just playing pretend. A petplay scene would be wrong if it was actually between a real life person and a real life animal.

** For example: "Master", "slave", "Owner", "Pet", "Daddy / Mommy", "little", etc.

*** Consensual Non-Consent.

We'll start with an example of a BDSM scene.

Warning: the following example will contain a master/slave scene that sounds non-consensual.
By checking the box below and then clicking on the arrow icon you consent to reading said scene.
